After starting-up the new reheating furnace at the Contrecoeur West plant in July, the second plant commissioned by ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada for the Contrecoeur East plant has been successfully commissioned on November 26 last.
In less than 24 months, Forni Industriali Bendotti designed and erected two 130 tph walking beam furnaces for the two Canadian AMLPC plants, which supply the existing rebars and SBQ rolling mill (Contrecoeur West) and the wire rod mill (Contrecoeur Est).
The two furnaces were started up after 5 months from each other, in full compliance with delivery times.
“The strength of prefabrication” – said Michele Bendotti, CEO of Forni Industriali Bendotti – “allows the completion of the assembly of the furnaces, and consequently their start-up, in a very short time. At the same time, this also allows for a reduction in installation and labour costs. These are plus appreciated and recognized by our customers”.
